Certified Instructional Technologist

This is a first step towards attaining a Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer® (CET) certification or Dangerous Goods Instructor certification. This program also operates as a stand-alone program for anyone wishing to attain accredidation for their teaching skills. This program focuses on the key elements of adult education and instructional technology.

The CIT Certification Exam

All applicants must pass the CIT exam and possess the following criteria:

Minimum criteria for the CIT designation:

  • proof of eligibility, acquired through education and/or experience. At least two years must be direct experience in a field relevant to the training offered;

  • a minimum of 270 hours in delivering education or training;

  • three professional references attesting to the applicant's skill as a trainer;

  • successful completion of the CIT Instructional Technology test; and,

  • annual renewal and proof every three years of continuing education and experience.
