The Dangerous Goods Trainers Association (DGTA) has been accepted as a self-governing committee under the auspices of the National Environmental, Safety, and Health Training Association (NESHTA).

DGTA was formed to provide a forum for dangerous goods trainers around the world and to sponsor a voluntary accredited certification program.  As a part of NESHTA, DGTA will use NESHTA’s voluntary accredited Certification in Instructional Technology (CIT) as the basis for creating the dangerous goods certification program.

DGTA members and other interested parties are now working on the development of certification examinations based on the training requirements laid down in the various international, regional and national regulations that govern the transportation of dangerous goods/hazardous materials. While sponsored by DGTA, the program will be managed by an independent board of certification.

DGTA’s accredited certification program covers the following regulations that govern the transportation of dangerous goods:

  • International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Technical Instructions
  • International Maritime Organization (IMO) IMDG Code
  • Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Regulations
  • European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (RID)
  • European Regulations Concerning the International Transport of Dangerous Goods by Rail (ADR)
  • US DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation Regulations (49 CFR)

DGTA’s only mission is to enhance the role of the professional Dangerous Goods Instructor and to provide a voice for the hundreds of qualified trainers around the world who perform this critical function.
